Mass. Doctors Must Take Implicit Bias Training Massachusetts’s Board of Registration in Medicine now requires physicians to undergo implicit bias training—effective June 1. Under the policy, applicants receiving a new physician license and licensees renewing a physician license must meet a requirement of two credits in implicit bias in healthcare. Pa. Gaming Board Removes 1% Ownership License Requirement The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board issued new licensing requirements on April 21 for privately
held companies, effective immediately. The new rules state that only individuals and entities with a 5% or greater direct or indirect ownership interest in a “privately held slot machine, management company, operator, manufacturer, supplier or manufacturer designee licensee” need to apply for and obtain principal licenses from the board. A survey of state licensing boards with universal licensing recognition policies indicated that 55% agree or strongly agree with the statement that universal recognition policy positively contributed to their state’s workforce. The Council of State Governments sent the 2021 Survey of Universal License Recognition Laws to state licensing boards and/or departments of professional licensing in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana and Pennsylvania; the report shares responses to survey questions—the benefits and the concerns—along with the lessons learned.
